Tully station was opened in 1950. It is now San Jose station 26, located at 528 Tully Rd, San Jose.

Hose 1 at headquarters station. According to Ray Maher, who contributed this photo, this 1935 Ford never had a 1000 mile checkup, because it was never driven that far. Photo 1952.
Utility 3, a 1952 ex-military Jeep, was used by Billy Clanton in the Training Division. It had 4-wheel drive with lock-out hubs, 12 volt ignition. When sold as surplus in 1972, it was described as having front bucket seats only, directional signal lights, a metal half-top and no spare. The minimum bid allowed when being sold was $650. The Tully Headquarters station was on the fairgrounds property. Each year during the fair, Central Fire District personnel staffed a temporary station at the fairgrounds. To this day, County Fire personnel still provide fire prevention patrol duties during the fair, although the Department no longer stations an engine there.

By 1949, Central Fire Distict had seven tankers in service. Six, including the one shown here, were semi-trailers with 2000 gallon tanks and 500 gpm pumps. Tanker 4, stationed at Quito, had a 2200 gallon tank and a 250 gpm pump, and was the only tanker on a straight frame. All of the original tankers were out of service by 1960.
Engine 9, date unknown. This is a very early shot of the rig, before it had installed its beacon, a chrome bumper, an air horn, and side compartments around the rear fenders.
Tanker-Pumper 7 (an International 200) at the Tully Rd headquarters in the mid- to late-1960s. This was one of three 750 gpm/1000 gallon units purchased in 1957-58. The other two were tanker-pumper 5, stationed at Cambrian, and tanker-pumper 3 at Cupertino. These units replaced the original semi-trailer tankers. Photo on right June 1963.
