Hillside Fire Safety and Survival
Hillside Fire Survival Workshops
Do you live in a hillside community? Would you like to learn more about the things
that you could do to increase the survivability of your home in the event of a wildland
fire? Would the homeowners in your neighborhood like to learn more about the codes and
ordinances that affect those living in the hillside communities? If you or your homeowner
group is interested in this program or would like information mailed to you, please
contact the Public Education Office.
A 20 page comprehensive publication, "Living with Fire in Santa Clara County" is available
in downloadable/printable format on the
Forms page, which includes a complete list of fire resistant plants.
Hillside Fire Safety Inspections
The Hillside Fire Safety Inspections are designed to assist property owners in determining what
can be done to their property to minimize fire hazards and maximize fire resistance. If you live
in a hillside community and would like a free inspection review of your property, contact the Fire
Prevention Division at 408.378.4010 or 1.800.800.1793. You may also download the Hillside Homeowner
Checklist from the
Forms page
and conduct your own property inspection.
