Because of the mergers and consolidations that took place during the department's history, apparatus designations become confusing. This is compounded by the renumbering that takes place when an apparatus is moved from front line to reserve status, or is allocated to a different station. Thus, a vehicle could have two or three different numbers during it's service life before being retired. One example of this is Campbell Engine 2, which then served as County Engine 10 for most of it's front line service before being moved to reserve status as Engine 110.
