Graystone station began operations in 1952 in a trailer behind Andy's Bar at 19325 Almaden Road north of McKean Road, San Jose. In November 1955 the station was moved into the house shown below at 1115 Grimley Lane. The proximity of the Graystone station led the residents of Almaden to annex into the Central Fire District in 1953.
As much of Graystone's first-due area was being annexed by the City of San Jose, the District closed the station in 1966. The crew and equipment were moved a mile or so south into the newly activated Almaden station.
