SUBJECT: Liquified Petroleum Gas Container Installations at Single Family Residences | Approved By | ________ |
This standard applies to the installation of liquefied petroleum gas container installations at single family residences. See diagram below.
Provide minimum separation between LP-Gas containers and building or property line (see diagram on the reverse of side of this sheet).
Provide "NO SMOKING" signs. Lettering on signs to be a minimum of four inches (4") high.
All combustibles shall be kept at least ten feet (10') from containers.
If containers, regulators or piping are located adjacent to driveways or parking areas, provide suitable protection to prevent damage.
Containers shall be mounted on approved saddles or with steel supports resting on concrete pads or footings, provided the bottom to the tank is not more than five feet (5') above ground level.
Concrete slabs shall be minimum six inches (6") thick and six inches (6") wider than the container diameter, solid masonry blocks shall be a minimum of twelve inches (12") wide by twelve inches (12") longer than the diameter of the container. Slabs and blocks shall be embedded six inches (6") into undisturbed soil.
Four (4) half-inch (1/2") anchor bolts shall be embedded a minimum of four inches (4") into concrete and secured to the container supports. Other methods of anchoring the containers shall be submitted for approval to the Building Official.
A fire and plumbing permit from the appropriate offices is required for the installation. The installation must be inspected by both fire and building departments prior to storage and usage of LP-Gas.
