Process

Inspections can only be scheduled with the permit holder. Inspections will only be scheduled with an approved permit issued by the fire department.

Call (408) 378-4010 and ask for Fire Prevention.

Inspections are scheduled starting at 9:00 am and the last inspection time is at 3:00 pm. Early morning or late afternoon inspections must be requested via overtime.

Cancellations must be done within 24 hours of appointment.

Permit holders may not hold times or swap project reservations.

Overtime Expedite

Permittee information must be completed.

The Fire Prevention Division will contact you within two business days of receiving this request.  Not all requests are granted.  If granted, we will notify you of the plan review status (approved/not approved) upon completion. Permits and/or comments will not be given until expedited plan check fees have been paid in full.

Fees will vary. (One hour minimum.)

Overtime Inspection

The Fire Prevention Division will contact you within two business days of receiving this request.  Not all requests are granted. If granted, we will notify you with fee amount. Depending on location, additional travel time may be added to the fee amount. Fees are due prior to inspection.

Firework applications can only be accepted from a licensed pyro technician. This may also include companies acting on behalf of a licensed pyro technician.

To apply for an event that includes pyrotechnics

A fire department representative must be on site during the show. (Overtime fees may apply.)

If you have an event with the below conditions, you will need to fill out a special events application form.

  1. Large gathering of the public for a festival or street fair.
  2. Tent in excess of 400 square feet.
  3. Tent with no sides in excess of 700 square feet.
  4. Propane tank
  5. Open flame
  6. Haunted Houses
  7. Pumpkin Patch
  8. Tree Lots
  9. Graduation Nights
  10. Fireworks (see fireworks application)

A model rocket is any toy or educational device that is propelled by an engine and does not weigh more than 500 grams, including the engine and any payload.
