By following a few safety tips, you can prevent a cooking fire.SCCFD will schedule a speaker to talk to your students about cooking safety. During this program, students will:

  • Be able to recognize kitchen hazards
  • Describe correct behaviors when cooking
  • Describe correct steps in putting out a small pan fire
  • Describe how to properly operate a portable fire extinguisher

This program is approximately 45 minutes in length.

Firefighters will visit your elementary school and teach school age children important fire and life safety skills as well as learn about the equipment firefighters use to help injured people and put out fires.

This program is approximately 30 to 45 minutes in length.

The Santa Clara County Fire Department personnel, along with a fire engine, will visit your preschool and introduce students to age appropriate fire and life safety skills, provide a tour of the fire engine, and demonstrate how a firefighter looks dressed in full gear.

This program is approximately 60 minutes in length (30 minutes inside the classroom and then 30 minutes outside with the firefighters and fire engine).
