Because of the soft ground, all rescue equipment has to be carried in by hand from the truck and engine parked outside of the track area. Here, firefighters are carrying in the Hurst tools (also known as the "Jaws of Life"), cutters, portable hydraulic compressor, hydraulic lines, and spreaders.
Firefighter/Engineers Tomasetti and Valcazar removing the windshield and cutting the roof pillars prior to rolling the roof back. This provides better access to the victims. The doors will also be pried open and removed.

After extrication and medical attention, the victims are packaged for transport to the trauma center.
The 'drunk driver' is administered a field sobriety test, before being arrested, transported to jail, and booked.
With the Grim Reaper nearby, the Coroner declares this victim dead at the scene.

Photos from the memorial service the next morning. Top photo: processional with casket lead by bagpiper. Second and third photos: Principal Nick Boden and Lt. Joe Sampson, Morgan Hill Police Department, speaking.
