Young Boy Fulfills Dreams of Service With Santa Clara County Fire

On Saturday, December 9, 2017, the fire alarms rang and a call came through asking Yeshua Thrower to help protect the citizens of Santa Clara county. That call fulfilled the dreams of a young eight-year old boy who wants to serve and protect the community as a firefighter.

Free Text Message Alert System is Lifeline for Homeless during Disasters

The County Office of Supportive Housing’s staff has created a lifeline for homeless individuals by using a text message alert system (AlertSCC) to convey critical disaster alerts and weather warnings. Staff also uses the system to direct people to life-saving resources such as cooling centers and tips for keeping safe in the heat.
